Background Check
Before you can work in Alabama public schools, you must have a clear criminal background. The link above walks you through, step-by-step, the process of a criminal background check. Before you get started, make sure you have available a valid Alabama driver license or ID,
debit or credit card, a device with Internet access, and a valid email account.
Employment Experience Verification Form
This supplement is to be completed for verification of professional educational work experience and for verification of clock hours of professional development, if applicable. Each former educational system (in state or out of state) should complete the following form and return it to the Muscle Shoals Board of Education to the Attn: Jennifer Mifflin, Secretary to the Superintendent.
It is the employee’s responsibility to obtain verification forms and ensure that they are received and processed by Muscle Shoals City Schools. Experience verification must be received within six months of your start date to be retroactive to your start date. Experience received after the six month window will be effective on the date it is received.
College Transcripts
MSCS must receive an official copy of your transcript directly from your college or university. It is the employee's responsibility to order transcripts and have them sent directly Jennifer Mifflin, Secretary to the Superintendent.
Lee v. Macon
All teachers in Alabama must have documentation on file for Lee v. Macon/Addressing Disproportionality in Alabama's Schools/Make Sense Strategy Training. If you have completed the training in a previous Alabama school district, please contact them for a copy of your certificate and submit to Jennifer Mifflin, Secretary to the Superintendent .
