Dear Parents,

The first week of kindergarten is quite different from our regular school day.  It has been developed to benefit our students, parents, and teachers by relieving a great deal of stress for each person involved in the transition from home to school.   Our plan is as follows:

Tuesday, August 2: You can come to “Meet the Teacher Day” anytime between 1:30-2:00 p.m. Please bring your child with you to meet their teacher.

Tuesday, August 2: We will have parent orientation at 5:30 p.m. (This session is mandatory for parent(s) and/or legal guardians. Children do not attend). This meeting will be held at Howell Graves in your child’s classroom.

Thursday, August 4: One-third of the students will attend from 7:35 until 12:00.

Friday, August 5: One-third of the students will attend from 7:35 until 12:00.

Monday, August 8: One-third of students will attend from 7:35 until 12:00.

Tuesday, August 9 through Friday, August 12: All students will attend from 7:35 until 12:00.

Monday, August 15: Regular school hours will begin for all students from 7:35 until 2:25.

Students will be assigned which day to attend at “Meet the Teacher Day” on Tuesday, August 2.

We hope that you will not have difficulty making arrangements for your child while he/she is not in school this week.  If you do experience difficulty, we will assist you with particular scheduling if possible.  We have found that the benefits of this plan far exceed the obstacles.  Please call us at 256-389-2630 if you have any questions.
