McBride's developmental school counseling program provides education, prevention and intervention services to promote personal/social, academic and career success for every student. The McBride counselor works with students individually, in small groups and in the classroom.
The focus of classroom guidance is the research-based program, "Too Good for Drugs." This curriculum focuses on goal setting, decision making, bonding with others, identifying and managing emotions, and communicating effectively. Every student is given a workbook that includes fun activities to reinforce each lesson.
Award-winning lessons from "The Character Chronicles," the "Kind News," and "Auto B Good" are also utilized to build desirable character traits. The resources cover many National Education Standards for major subject areas which gives us an additional opportunity to integrate the guidance and academic curriculum.
