I have spent most of my life in the small town of Killen, Alabama. I attended Brooks throughout elementary and middle school, but transferred and graduated from Lauderdale County High School in 2007. I attended college at the University of North Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in secondary education with an emphasis in Biology in 2011. I completed my Master's degree from UNA in 2016.  I began teaching at Muscle Shoals Middle School in 2011.

In my free time, I love to spend time outdoors-hiking, yoga, and taking pictures of nature. I am a huge sports fan and follow the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners each season. I also enjoy watching Marvel movies and reading comic books.  I am married to Mr. Porter, a 7th grade math teacher at MSMS and our son, Connor, is a student at Auburn University.
