• Scott Basden is originally from Trinity, Alabama. He was named honorable mention to the 1989 All-State team as a senior defensive lineman at West Morgan High School. Basden continued his football career with a scholarship from the University of North Alabama. Basden lettered all four seasons as a Lion and helped the Lions win Division II National Championships in 1994-1995.

    As a new coach, Basden accepted a position with Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2003 before moving on to Cordova High School in 2005. His teams won two region titles in four seasons. Basden led the Blue Devils to the perfect season in 2007, winning the 3A State Championship. In four seasons with the Blue Devils, Basden had a record of 37-12.

    In 2008 the Trojan faMily welcomed the Basden family, when Scott Basden accepted the position of Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. Since coming to Muscle Shoals in 2008, Scott Basden and his well chosen coaching staff have brought overwhelming success to our all of our athletic programs. Prior to Scott Basden taking over as athletic director the Muscle Shoals Trojans had only won 75 games in 19 seasons, which is an average of 4 games per season. In the 8 seasons, Basden has led the Trojans to win 80 games. This record includes:

    • 46 region wins out of 52
    • 55 games where opponents were held to 1 or less touchdowns 
      • 22 Shutouts
    • Ranked #1 in State for 6 weeks in 2012
    • 2013 1st appearance in State Chamionship game 
    • In 9 years, 51 Football players have signed college Football Scholarships. This is up from 38 scholarships in 38 years of Trojan Football.

    Since Coach Basden became the Athletic Director in 2008, he has brought numerous improvements to Trojan Athletics. In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Basden has led the way to improve our programs and facilities. He established a wrestling program that has had six state champions and numerous state qualifiers. He has made numerous improvements to the facilities for our athletes such as sound barriers in the gym, complete overhaul of the football stadium with Jumbo Tron, installed new baseball scoreboard, new seating for tennis courts, new girls locker room for volleyball and basketball, resurfaced the gym floor with new logos, resurfaced the track, and oversaw the building of a state of the art athletic facility for male and female athletes to utilize.

     

     

Scott Basden
