McBride School Counseling Program

  • Welcome! I am Staci Phillips and I am so excited to be the school counselor at McBride. My job is to support the social-emotional, academic, and career development of all of our students through classroom lessons, individually, and/or small groups. As a professional school counselor, I advocate for students' success using a solution-focused approach by collaborating with teachers, staff, parents/guardians and the community.

The School Counseling Program at McBride is developmental, preventative, and proactive in nature and designed with the needs of every student in mind. Your child visits my class every other week for 40 minutes. During this time, we discuss topics that give students skills to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and to plan for the future. Lesson topics include: making good choices, setting goals, regulating emotions, developing a growth mindset, and much more. All lessons are created using the Alabama Comprehensive Counseling State Model and the American School Counseling Association Standards.
